Our team
Jennifer Fowler, DVM
Dr. Fowler aspired to become a veterinarian since she was 5 years old. She grew up in Kansas City, Missouri then studied at the University of Missouri - Columbia before graduating from the College of Veterinary Medicine in 2008. She practiced in Los Angeles, California for 5 years then bought and owned the Calabasas Animal Clinic for the next four years. At that point her family of four decided to relocate back to her husband’s hometown of St. Louis, Missouri. Dr. Fowler and her husband have three wonderful children, Gus 14, Oscar 12, and Ruth 7. They have two dogs, Dingo and Waggy and a cat, Cookies. Dr. Fowler has had the pleasure of working for Millis Animal Hospital since 2017. She’s excited for the next chapter in opening a local veterinary clinic with her family.
Bee, Veterinary Assistant
Bee had a love of animals instilled in her from a young age, often going to the Saint Louis Zoo with her great aunts, and playing with their cats. At age ten, she convinced her parents to adopt two kittens, Fish and Frank (R.I.P.), who only made her love for animals grow. She is now the proud cat mom of Lollipop and Donny Osmond, and with six older siblings, she is a proud aunt to humans and animals alike. Bee has a certificate in Veterinary Assisting from The Academy of Pet Careers. This is her first job in this field and she’s very happy to be working with pets, with Dr. Fowler and her team. At night, Bee is usually either rehearsing for, or performing in, musicals with local theatre companies, oftentimes with her husband, Nathan.
Layla, Veterinary Receptionist & Assistant
Growing up with a dog and five chinchillas, Layla developed a love for animals early in life. At 18, she began working with dogs and cats and quickly discovered how much she enjoys building trust with animals and being part of their care. She has hands-on experience with dog training and enjoys helping pets feel safe and comfortable during their visits. Spending every day around animals is one of her favorite parts of working at Kehrs Mill Veterinary Care.
Layla is the proud pet parent of two cats, Milo and Milo Jr., and a Pitbull named Lucy. She also holds a special place in her heart for her childhood dog, Alfalfa, who helped spark her lifelong passion for animal care.
When she’s not working, Layla enjoys spending time with friends and family, reading, and providing her pets with regular guitar serenades.
Niko, Veterinary Receptionist & Assistant
Having grown up with animals of all kinds, Niko developed a love of animals as a young child. From dogs, cats, reptiles, fish, amphibians and inverts, they have seen and/or owned it all. Niko has worked with animals, primarily cats and dogs (but also some exotics and horses), for almost a decade - including doggy daycares, pet stores, and veterinary medicine. They have also fostered cats for a local STL rescue, Tenth Life, and hope to again in the future.
At home, Niko shares their house with two cats - Bijou (Bee) and Cappuccino (Chino). With a passion for cats and dogs coming naturally, they also hold reptiles close to their heart and own several - including ball pythons, geckos, and a bearded dragon, along with a few betta fish. They currently do not have a dog but hope to adopt one in the near future. In their spare time, they also enjoy painting, baking, buying too many houseplants, and going to local STL events.
